Cost kick a bow agen a wow

Dave Boulton July 2004

I bet you any money that when you come down to stoke
You’ll think we all talk funny cuz of how the lingoes spoke
It’s like a foreign language a communications maze
But you’ll find you can manage if you memorise this phrase

Chorus
Cost kick a bow agen a wow yed it with thee yed and bost it
Cost kick a bow agen a wow yed it with thee yed and bost it
Repeat ad infinitum to make they asna lost lt
Cost kick a bow agen a wow yed it with thee yed and bost it

In France and Spain and Germany the way they talk is weird
And those who even murmur it get heckled mocked and jeered
So don’t try la plume de mon tente or Vor sprung durk teknik
The potter’s lingo what you want to learn and here’s the trick

So when visiting the potteries there’s no reason to be shy
And here’s a few good phrases that will help you to get by
Try – Aye up youth! Weet working? At on nates? Ah dunna know!
And if that don’t work then give this tried and tested line a go

I dunna wunna shunna means I don’t, I won’t and shant
I anna or I conna it means I havent and I can’t
Marn and tharn is yours and mine whilst may and thay is us
And when they travel potters go by buzz and never bus

So now you’ve learned the language why not come on down to Stoke
You’ll be welcomed there with open arms by all the girls and blokes
So use the potter’s parlance and you’ll always sound precocious
It’s our supercalifragilisticexpialidoshus!
